Combination of Uncapping Machine and Direct Wax Melter

DISOMELTER is a professional compact unit that combines the Giordan vibrating heated-knife uncapping machine (code 170K) and a direct wax melter in a single system.

The unit is entirely made of food-grade AISI 304 stainless steel and is designed to automate the processes of comb uncapping, separating honey from wax cappings, and melting wax.

Uncapping system

Comb frames are automatically guided between two vibrating knives heated with hot water. This system ensures precise and clean cutting of the wax cappings.

Unlike other technologies, the wax cappings are not shredded—they are cut off as when working with a manual uncapping knife.

By additionally installing the double-knife set (ordered separately), there is no need to manually inspect and re-uncap the combs after the uncapping process.

The knives are heated by an integrated hot-water heating and recirculation system, which is included as standard. Temperature is controlled by a thermostat.

The knives also operate inside the wooden comb frame, enabling efficient uncapping even of partially filled combs.

Knife spacing is adjustable with a special side lever, allowing quick adaptation to combs of different thicknesses.

Once the operator manually feeds the comb frame, the system automatically guides it between the knives and ensures uniform uncapping on both sides.

After uncapping, the frames slide onto a collection rack. An uncapping table (as shown in the photos), with length tailored as needed, can be placed under the rack.

Integrated direct wax melter

After uncapping, the removed wax cappings are automatically collected in the direct wax melter installed beneath the uncapping machine.

The purpose of this unit is to:

separate honey from the wax cappings;
melt the wax immediately;
obtain both cleaned molten wax and honey in a single process.

The final result—through two separate discharge channels flow out:

clean molten wax;
honey.

Thus, two operations are carried out in a single technological process, reducing labor costs and shortening processing time.

Temperature control

The direct wax melter has two separate temperature control systems:

for honey temperature control;
for regulating the melting temperature of the wax cappings.

The unit is also equipped with two separate discharge channels:

one for honey;
one for molten wax.

Control is via a simple and user-friendly control panel.

The unit is built with a double heated chamber, which ensures an even and efficient process.

Preservation of honey quality

Comprehensive tests and evaluations have shown that the heat used for wax melting does not worsen honey freshness indicators and does not adversely affect its storage properties.

During the tests it was found that in honey processed in this way, the HMF (hydroxymethylfurfural) content remains well below the limit values set by law (according to Italian law D.L. No. 179/2004).

The standard version of the unit is manufactured for Dadant Blatt type comb frames. Upon customer request, with exact dimensions provided, the unit can also be manufactured for other types of comb frames.
